Providing the fuels that power the Midwest
With a crude oil capacity of 375,000 barrels per day, the Flint Hills Resources Pine Bend refinery is among the nation’s top producers of fuels and other petroleum-based products that are essential to the economy and modern life. The refinery is the largest purchaser of ethanol in Minnesota and has utilized ethanol and other biofuels in its fuel distribution system since the mid-1990s.
Pine Bend is responsible for providing transportation fuels used throughout the Midwest, including a significant percentage of the gasoline and diesel fuel consumed in Minnesota.
